John NeumeisterJohn Neumeister has pioneered organic and sustainable farming since the early 1970’s. John co-authored the Certified Organic Standards for livestock 25 years ago, which as adopted by Oregon Tilth and the National Organic Standards. John founded Cattail Creek Lamb over 30 years ago. Cattail Creek’s lamb are recognized for their superior quality and taste, and are bought by the finest restaurants and natural food stores throughout Oregon and beyond. John has always sold direct, making him one of the early leaders in re-establishing direct links between producers and consumers. John grew up on a mixed beef-sheep operation in Ohio and has operated his own sheep ranch in the southern Willamette Valley since 1974. He received a BS in Animal Science and MS in Crop Science from Oregon State University, and worked as a research agronomist and in new product development and field contracting for Pennington Seed Company. |
