The first Earth Day in 1970 mobilized millions of Americans for the protection of the planet. On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans — 10% of the U.S. population at the time — took to the street, college campuses, and hundreds of cities to protest environmental neglect and demand a new way forward for our planet. The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve been demonstrating that doing the right thing for the environment is also doing the right thing for investors, by showing that converting from conventional to regenerative farming delivers higher revenue and profit per acre. That’s an Earth Day message that everyone can get behind, and I’d like to think Senator Gaylord Perry and Denis Hays, the brainchildren behind the first Earth Day, would be pleased.
